Herbal teas for summer: Hydration, freshness and digestive wellbeing

2026-07-22

With the arrival of summer, higher temperatures and changes in eating habits mean our bodies need proper hydration and extra digestive support. In this context, herbal teas offer a natural, refreshing and flavourful way to stay hydrated during the hottest months of the year. Whether served hot, over ice or prepared as a cold brew, they help increase daily fluid intake while providing a sensory experience that differs from traditional soft drinks.

Certain botanicals are particularly well suited to summer thanks to their properties and aromatic profiles. Mint provides a naturally refreshing sensation, while fennel and chamomile have traditionally been used to promote digestive comfort after hearty meals. Ginger is valued for helping you feel lighter after eating, and hibiscus brings a fruity, slightly tangy flavour that is perfect for refreshing iced infusions.

Here are three herbal tea blends to enjoy this summer:

Refreshing Hydration: hibiscus, mint and lemon peel. Prepare it as a cold brew by leaving it to infuse in cold water for 6–8 hours, or serve it over plenty of ice with slices of lemon or orange for an extra refreshing touch.

After a Hearty Meal: fennel, chamomile, ginger and mint. Enjoy it warm around 15–20 minutes after eating. For a naturally sweeter taste, add a teaspoon of honey once the tea has cooled slightly, or infuse it with a small piece of liquorice root.

Light and Refreshing: hibiscus, horsetail, dandelion and mint. Serve chilled with a few fresh mint leaves or slices of cucumber for a light and refreshing drink.

At Plantafarm, we continue to explore the potential of botanicals to develop blends that combine flavour, quality and functionality, offering natural solutions tailored to every season. Because in summer, looking after yourself can start with a cup… or a perfectly chilled glass of herbal tea.
